The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar is delighted to present a luncheon presentation by Mr. Jason Tower, a notable Myanmar subject-matter expert and the current Burma Country Director at the U.S. Institute of Peace, with our venue partner, the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT).
This is a hybrid luncheon and presentation held at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT). Members in Bangkok will be able to join the program live at the FCCT with the option to enjoy a buffet lunch prepared by the FCCT. Prior booking is required.

As shared in a recent article in The Economist, Mr. Tower will share his updates on the situation in Myanmar and will speak about his latest research on the Myanmar border with China, on the subject of which he is a published expert. This presentation is being held under the Chatham House Rule, and we kindly request that information shared in this program be considered as "off the record."
Topics and themes covered in the presentation will include
- The military's recent attacks on key ethnic armed organizations, the different responses of EAOs and resistance forces, and rising levels of instability especially along the country's borders.
- How rising levels of transnational crime are posing new threats to regional and global security
- The responses of Myanmar's powerful neighboring states and potential for escalations in violent conflict.
- The inclusion of the Burma Act into the NDAA, and options for U.S. policy
