The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (AMCHAM Myanmar) was established on October 31, 2013. To date, more than 170 companies employing over 20,000 Myanmar nationals have joined the Chamber. These companies represent a diverse collection of industries and nationalities, with a common goal to expand American business and promote the highest business standards in Myanmar.

In this third round, we will welcome the U.S. Embassy's new Regional Security Officer Mr. Tom Eckert who is also in charge of the Embassy's Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). There is a vibrant OSAC Chapter in Myanmar. Please join us to meet Tom.


Our expert speakers from Barber Mullan & Associates and ATALIAN Global Services will brief AMCHAM Members of the current security situation and will discuss special considerations for businesses operating in Myanmar.

Adam Castillo

Managing Director of Atalian Global Services Myanmar


Adam founded a security company in Myanmar in 2013. He then partnered with ATALIAN Global Services โ€“ a global multi-national - in 2016. He is a former US Marine Corps Officer with combat operational experience in Afghanistan and operational experience in Korea. He has a masters in international relations with a focus on international terrorism. Based in Myanmar since 2013, he currently serves on the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Steering Committee since its inception in 2018. He is currently serving on the Board of Governors at AMCHAM Myanmar as Vice President.

Stuart is a former journalist and businessman, who has worked with BM&A for a number of years and provides advice and support our clients in Myanmar. Based in Myanmar.

Thomas Eckert

Regional Security Officer at U.S. Embassy Myanmar


Thomas Eckert has worked for the US State Department as a Special Agent in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security since April 2003. He has served in multiple assignments in the US as well as overseas including assignments to New York, Washington, DC, Burma, Gabon, Vietnam, Baghdad and Afghanistan. This is Tom's second assignment to Rangoon as he was the ARSO there in 2007. Most recently, Tom managed, supervised and led, the Baghdad Embassy Security Force to include the guard force, Emergency Response Teams, Explosive Detection Dog Teams, and EOD personnel.  Tom has co-chaired OSAC country councils in Gabon and Vietnam.


Prior to joining the State Department Tom was a series seven licensed Financial Advisor with a small independent broker/dealer in Boston, Massachusetts for four years.


Tom has been married nineteen years to his wife Camille and they have two children together. Noah, their son, is sixteen-years-old and Georgia, their daughter, is thirteen-years-old. Camille is a certified middle school teacher that has taught in Boston, Rangoon, Libreville, and Hanoi. She is also an aspiring author with a self-published book with several in the works. Camille was born in Singapore and was raised in Taipei, Taiwan where her Father worked for a private business. She graduated from Simmons College with two Degrees one in English and one in Education.


Tom was born in Bucks County Pennsylvania and graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in history. Tom was raised in a Foreign Service family and as a dependent lived in Turkey, Taiwan, and Russia.
