The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (AMCHAM Myanmar) was established on October 31, 2013. To date, more than 170 companies employing over 20,000 Myanmar nationals have joined the Chamber. These companies represent a diverse collection of industries and nationalities, with a common goal to expand American business and promote the highest business standards in Myanmar.

AMCHAM Myanmar and OSAC are hosting twelfth round of the latest security update in Myanmar on December 05.


The webinar will feature our expert conflict & security speaker, our very own President and Managing Director of AGS Myanmar, Adam Castillo. We also have special guests at the webinar, the Regional Security Officer (RSO) from the U.S. Embassy Rangoon, Jeff Jacob and the Founder, Director of COAR Global, Max Gardiner. The webinar will provide an overview about the latest developments in Myanmar's on-going conflict as well as the security implications on businesses still operating in the market. There will be time for Q+A at the end of the panel.

Adam Castillo

Managing Director of AGS Myanmar


For over a decade, Adam Castillo has worked at the intersection of investment and security as Myanmar's top expert. Adam founded AGS Myanmar in 2013, Myanmar's leading security risk management company. Adam employs over 1300 Myanmar nationals servicing international clients' operations across Myanmar.


A former United States Marine Corps (USMC) commissioned officer and a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). Adam has served on the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar's (AMCHAM) Board of Governors since 2020. In 2023, he was elected President the Board of Governors (AMCHAM), while serving as Vice-President from 2021-2023.


In 2021, he was also the winner of the Rising Star of the Year Award category at the 2020 APAC Chamber of Commerce Awards. He was selected by White Page International for their 100 Inspirational Leaders of Asia award in 2022 as well as Asia One Media's Top 40 Most Influential Young Leaders in Asia 2023. He also currently serves on the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Steering Committee for the US Embassy Rangoon since 2018.


Adam did his undergraduate at the University of California, Riverside and later received graduate degrees from Norwich University with a Master of Arts in International Relations – Terrorism & Conflict and a Master of Business Administration in 2016. Adam was born in California, USA and is currently based in Yangon Myanmar.

Max Gardiner

Founder, Director COAR Global


Max has 14 years of experience working as an aid sector analyst and researcher for COAR, as well as for multiple local and international NGOs, UN agencies, and think tanks; he has been working on the international Myanmar response for 4 years and spent the previous 7 years on the Syria response. His research is primarily focused on information gathering systems in conflict contexts; mechanisms for international engagement with local civil society; the linkages between humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding programme streams; informal money transfer systems; do-no-harm approaches in complex conflicts; and remote program management modalities.
