The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar

The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (AMCHAM Myanmar) was established on October 31, 2013. To date, more than 170 companies employing over 20,000 Myanmar nationals have joined the Chamber. These companies represent a diverse collection of industries and nationalities, with a common goal to expand American business and promote the highest business standards in Myanmar.

In this eighth round of our series, we will feature our expert conflict & security speakers, our very own President and Managing Director of ATALIAN Global Services Myanmar, Adam Castillo, and Regional Security Officer (RSO) at the U.S. Embassy Rangoon, Marlon J. Grullón, who will provide an overview about the latest developments in Myanmar's on-going conflict as well as the security implications on businesses still operating in the market. There will be time for Q+A at the end of the panel.

Adam Castillo

Managing Director of Atalian Global Services Myanmar


Adam founded a security company in Myanmar in 2013. He then partnered with ATALIAN Global Services – a global multi-national - in 2016. He is a former US Marine Corps Officer with combat operational experience in Afghanistan and operational experience in Korea. He has a masters in international relations with a focus on international terrorism. Based in Myanmar since 2013, he currently serves on the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Steering Committee since its inception in 2018. He is currently serving on the Board of Governors at AMCHAM Myanmar as President.

Marlon J. Grullón

Regional Security Officer (RSO) at the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon, Burma


Marlon J. Grullón assumed his current position as the Regional Security Officer (RSO) at the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon, Burma in August 2022. Prior to that he served as a Career Development Officer (CDO) and has been with the Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DSS) for just over 22yrs. His career has primarily taken him abroad to locations such as the Philippines, The Dominican Republic, India, Suriname, and Venezuela. Domestically he has served in New York, Miami, and within the Countermeasures Directorate as a Program Manager in the Certification, Accreditation, & Transit Security Branch.

 

In his previous overseas assignments, he has served as the Deputy Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas from 2016 to 2018 and as the RSO for the United States Consulate in Chennai, India from 2010 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, Marlon also served as the Site Security Manager (SSM) for the New Embassy Compound (NEC) construction site in Paramaribo, Suriname.
